ROUGH DRAFTS AND GOOD RESPONSES

Chris sent me a rough draft of “Rust” just so I can hear how the drums and bass are coming along. All I can say is, WOW! Chris added some slinky little lines to keep the song flowing and Ronnie’s drumming combines space with mood. Not an easy feat for a drummer, let me tell you! I definitely need to come up with the right guitar parts for this tune. I wrote the damn song and it’s going to be the most difficult thing I’ve ever written!

Been receiving some nice compliments and responses pertaining to the pics and the little video on my Facebook and other social media pages. Nice to read such things as “You seem really excited!” and “Haven’t seen you this happy in a long time.” Both comments are definitely on the money. I really am beyond excited, and the last time I was this happy was way back when I recorded GO BERZERK! in 2010 (!!)

Don’t get me wrong, I am very proud of LAYERS OF TIME but it’s nice to have a real trio again as opposed to me doing everything. I am glad that LAYERS really pushed me to wear many hats but this time I can focus solely on the guitar.

And a couple of people have asked about the metronome speeds I posted. Yes I am geeky but I figured it would provide insight as to how varied the tempos are. “Rust” is definitely the slowest at 65 bpm, while two songs share the same exact tempo at 168!

Time to find my pocket protector…

Metronome speeds for the geeks in us!
