EIGHT SONGS IN THE QUEUE

Welcome to another installment of “How’s That New Album Coming, Bello?” Well I’ll tell ya…

All the drum programs are DONE! Eight songs in two days, which is great considering I did everything myself. Once I figured out how to drag and drop loops, it became a breeze. Normally I would do drums first and then guitars but in this case, I recorded the scratch guitar parts first and built drums around them. For the most part, it was easy to find sections that fit nicely. Some stuff I had to cut and paste from other sections, and while it was a bit tedious, it worked out well. I am sure drummers around the world will gripe and say things like “You could have asked ME to play, I would have done it.” Sorry but I have to be in total control once again. The days of giving people rope are over. I may lose some fans and friends over that statement but I’d rather die being honest than live a lie.

I am not revealing too much in the way of the album title (I learned that lesson a while back since I let words get away with me) or most of the song titles. But some of you are aware of the song “Slippery Gypsy” from seeing the many live clips from this year, as well as the acoustic demo of “Balancing The Sun”. Outside of that, I am keeping mum on everything else until all the music is done and packaged nicely. The only hint I will drop about the album title is that I heard this phrase mentioned twice in one day, and that to me was a sign to use that as the album title, as well as the title track.

If I can get this album out the door by the end of Fall or early winter, then that would be a land-speed record for me. I forget the last time I recorded something and released it soon after. May have been when I did ALL WIRED UP back in 2004. After that, it became a chore to record and release records. But not any longer! Now that I am quite adept at using technology, I can record what I want, when I want. Nothing and nobody will hold me back or tell me what I “should” be doing.

Now to update my rotary phone…
